.. Just recently, one of the disks in my receiver went bad. I have Spinrite v6.0 and I put the defective disk in a PC and booted up Spinrite v6.0. I ran Spinrite at Level 2 and there were no defects found. However, Spinrite v6.0 only tests up to about 130GB of disk space. The defective disk is a WD 320GB disk. Spinrite has absolutely no use on any hard drive from this century. If that drive is failing as opposed to just a small section where there was a failed write or defective media then constantly trying to read the same failed block over and over is going to waste the time the drive has left before it totally fails.

These updates are listed as optional patches. This means that Windows users and administrators need to check them first in Windows Update to install them.
